Go to the liquor store and buy a little "airplane shooter" (a 2 oz. bottle). It's not expensive, and it'll keep forever. You may have to ask for chicken livers, and they may be frozen, but trust me, that's okay. Also, don't worry about making the red wine poached figs, they're a nice touch by not necessary if you don't want to go to the trouble. (Remember the pate from my grad party? The Bon Appetit recipe was exactly how I made it.)
